"The Good Doctor," Alister Mackenzie, transitioned from being a surgeon in the Boer War to becoming a renowned golf course architect. Known for his dynamic bunkers and elaborate greens, Mackenzie's designs include Cypress Point and Augusta National, as well as the Portland Course at Royal Troon Golf Club, site of The Open Championship from July 18-21.
