Architects Tribute Day: C.B. Macdonald (1855-1939) - Hole #2

  • The Architects Golf Club 700 Stryker Rd Phillipsburg, NJ, 08865 United States (map)

This is the final Tribute Day golf event of the season.

Join us for a celebratory round & banquet to honor the golf architect who inspired the design for our 2nd hole!

C.B. Macdonald, known the father of American golf course architecture, adorns the name of our Weekday Golf Membership. Macdonald created the National Golf Links of America using engineered versions of famous British holes and bunkers. He only worked on about two dozen designs in his life, mostly adopting entire British holes or their boldest features. Macdonald constructed greens from raw land and used steam shovels to pile up earth into a huge green pad in rocky areas. Our par-3 second hole features narrow "strip" bunkers and subtle contours on the green, typical of Macdonald’s style.

Hole No. 2: In the style of C.B. Macdonald
